7.3.2010 "Future Options"
Thoth camps out in corner of couch for hours, then days, and gets wrapped up in getting deeper into the
Illustrator program in order to facilitate Festad map creation. Last couple of days highlights. Saturday: LA makes smoothies every morning. Is loving grilled cheese with ketchup. A cure for homesickness. Likes Spanish style Ketchup. Dynamic Duo discusses future options: Go to Amsterdam: Their favorite city. Mood towards street performers has threatened to change also, like every other city in Europe. Very cold right now. When will it get warm? Return to New York City: Cold also. Comfort in familiarity. Prayformance certain again. Nowhere to live and not enough income for both LA and Thoth to survive on. Stay in Barcelona: LA and Thoth love the city. Possibility of art modeling for money, but no prayformance. Don’t want to outstay welcome with Vicente. Southern Spain: Granada. Police have started harassing street musicians. Sevilla. Question mark. Return to Marrakech: Just kidding! Asia: The Dynamic Duo would love to but don’t have the money. They would need sponsorship and assistance to go. On Saturday. The day is cold. Dynamic Duo goes for walk in search of movie theater on Paral-lel showing “The Road,” a film based on a book that LA liked. They don’t find the theater. LA draws Thoth. Becomes inspired and starts doodling/drawing. LA and Thoth watch “The Princess Bride” (“La Princessa Promiseda” Spanish subtitles) on computer. Thoth laughs so loud that LA tells him to be quiet. LA refrain: “How can someone so quiet be so loud? How can someone so noisy be so soft?” On Sunday. The day is cloudy. Rain at night. On a walk searching for an art store, the Dynamic Duo discover that Casas (their favorite clandestine spot) has been remodeled. They fear that the acoustics may have been changed. For sure the facade is different. “Can Nabo” Restaurante for dinner. For people living on a tight budget, the cheapness and tastiness of their food is irresistible. LA tells Thoth to stop talking about death so much, “it scares her.” Thoth feels increasingly sick in the stomach. May be tiredness, since he rarely sleeps—tortured as he is by sadness and missing the life he left. Goes to bed at 22:00. LA draws self-portraits for the rest of the evening. Vicente is so sweet and welcoming to the Dynamic Duo. Between him and Madam Bahia, LA and Thoth couldn’t have found more supportive beings. Bibi says: “Your sadness is your illness, Daddy.”
